74-year-old scooter driver killed in Orange County crash

Crash happened at Town Loop Boulevard and Town Center Boulevard

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 74-year-old man driving a scooter was killed in a crash with an SUV in Orange County on Sunday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the deadly crash happened around 7:58 p.m. at the intersection of Town Loop Boulevard and Town Center Boulevard.

According to a crash report, the man was driving a Jiajue scooter north on Town Loop Boulevard, approaching Town Center Boulevard in the outside lane.

At the same time, a Honda CR-V was traveling east on Town Center Boulevard, approaching Town Loop Boulevard in the outside lane.

According to the report, the scooter driver attempted to make a right turn to head east on Town Center Boulevard and entered the direct path of the SUV.

Troopers said the left front of the scooter struck the right front of the CR-V.

The scooter’s driver was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the FHP.

The driver of the SUV, identified as a 44-year-old Kissimmee woman, and three passengers in the vehicle were transported with minor injuries.

Troopers said the eastbound lanes of Town Center Boulevard and the northbound lanes of Town Loop Boulevard are currently closed.

The reach remains under investigation.
