$5,000 reward offered for man wanted in 16-year-old girl's murder

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – The U.S. Marshals Service and the Sumter County Sheriff's Office are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man accused of killing a 16-year-old girl and raping another teen.

Sumter County Sheriff's Office detectives identified Larry Darnell Peavy, of Bushnell, as a suspect in the death of 16-year-old Aleaya Maria Jackson, who was found dead inside a home on Pine Street last week after a well-being check was requested.

Peavy was last seen driving a gray 1997 Nissan Sentra with a Florida tag number 2295UJ.

That vehicle was found in the 2700 block of Walker Drive in Fort Pierce on Tuesday after authorities received information that Peavy might be at that location, but he left before law enforcement officers arrived, deputies said.

Peavy has open warrants for his arrest on charges of first-degree murder, kidnap - false imprisonment, sexual assault with a weapon or force, and kidnap-commit or facilitate the commission of a felony.

U.S. Marshals and Sumter County detectives are following all leads, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Tipsters who call Crimeline can remain anonymous and still receive the reward money.
