1 person hospitalized after hitting car, crashing into Daytona Beach rec center

Firefighters remove injured driver from car, DBFD officials say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – One person was taken to a hospital after hitting another vehicle and crashing into a rec center, the Daytona Beach Fire Department said.

The department responded around 7:30 p.m. to the youth rec center, where a female driving a Hyundai lost control of her car, hit another vehicle and then crashed into the Youth Rec Center owned by First Baptist Church at 115 N. Ridgewood Ave.

Officials said firefighters had to remove the injured driver from the car. She was then taken to a hospital.

The people inside the other vehicle that was hit were not injured, officials said.

No one was inside the rec center when the car hit it, but it damaged two interior rooms and caused exterior structural damage as well, officials said.

It is unknown what caused the driver to wreck, officials said.
