Brush fire burns at Hal Scott Preserve in east Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A brush fire has scorched more than 300 acres near the Hal Scott Preserve in east Orange County, Florida Forest Service officials said. 

Officials said there four bulldozers were being used in the fight against the fire, which is burning near a power plant.

Officials said no structures are in danger.

The fire is 80 percent contained, officials said on Monday.

No other details have been released.

Meanwhile, a brush fire forced evacuations over the weekend in Marion County.

The fire is burning near Orange Springs.

Several homes were evacuated as the fire grew to 700 acres. The occupants were later allowed to return home.

Officials said County Road 315 will be closed in the early morning hours and at night because of visibility issues.

Officials said the fire torched a shed and a vacant mobile home.

As of Monday morning, the fire was 95 percent contained.
