Officials said an investigation began in April when Meahl engaged in a series of emails with an undercover agent who Meahl believed was the parent of two boys, ages 9 and 14.
Agents said Meahl offered to meet the boys to engage in sexual activity and traveled to a Sunrise, Florida, hotel to meet who he thought were the boys.
Meahl, a registered sex offender in Florida since 2009, was arrested Wednesday and was taken to the Broward County Jail.
Agents said they believe Meahl could have committed additional sex crimes. Anyone with information about Meahl is asked to call the FDLE.
