Man shot at WWE center ruled competent to stand trial

Family says Armando Montalvo suffers from mental illness

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man who was shot by deputies at WWE's facility in Orange County is competent to stand trial, a judge ruled Thursday.

At a court hearing, which Armando Montalvo did not attend, a judge said that a doctor examined Montalvo in May.

"It indicates that Mr. Montalvo has a diagnosis constant with personality disorder not otherwise specified that polysubstance abuse affects him and disruptive mood disregulation disorder," the judge said. "Mr. Montalvo has been determined to be competent by (the doctor). How do you wish to proceed'?

The judge said defense lawyers and prosecutors agreed that the case could move forward, and a pretrial hearing was set for August 31.

Montalvo's family says that he suffers from bipolar disorder and other mental illnesses.

Deputies said Montalvo pounded on the glass outside the WWE Performance Center before charging deputies and being shot in September.
