Cops: Woman shot, killed boyfriend in Pine Hills over cheating

Orange County deputies find man's body in garage

PINE HILLS, Fla. – Orange County sheriff's deputies have charged a 49-year-old woman with shooting and killing her boyfriend at a Pine Hills home after the 62-year-old man was found dead inside a garage.

Janice Smith has been charged with first degree murder after the body of Jerome Gallon was found by authorities in the garage. Deputies say Gallon was shot to death, and they suspect Smith was the shooter.I

In the report, Smith told the dispatcher, "he was cheating on me. A woman said 'he was flirting on me' and I went and got my gun and shot him. I moved the gun, I took it to my sister-in-law's house."

"I just got a phone call that said my brother was gone," said Gallon's brother, Ormond, on the scene. "It hurts to lose any of your family members."

Gallon says his brother has adult children in the Central Florida area and that he worked at Universal Orlando for the past decade.

Smith has been charged with first-degree murder. The sister-in-law, Elizabeth Kindred, has been charged with accessory after the fact, according to deputies.

Investigators are looking into the history of the couple to see if there was a history of domestic violence. A friend of the couple told Local 6 the couple argued a lot.

"Always the police coming over here, always arguing," the woman, who didn't want to be identified, said as she described the couple.
