LONGWOOD, Fla. – A dad almost crashed into another vehicle when he drove drunk to pick up his children from their elementary school, according to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

A concerned employee at Sabal Point Elementary in Longwood called authorities when he noticed Aaron Hazen smelled like alcohol, nearly crashed and had a hard time speaking while picking up his children around 5 p.m. Wednesday, the arrest report said.

A deputy found Hazen's red SUV in the area. He watched the driver swerve multiple times before he pulled him over, deputies said.

The smell of alcohol permeated from the vehicle and Hazen's breath as the deputy initiated the traffic stop, the report said. Hazen struggled to differentiate between his driver's license and his debit card and could not find his vehicle registration.

The deputy said Hazen admitted to drinking two beers. He was handcuffed after completing the deputy's field sobriety exercises.

Inside the vehicle, deputies found an unopened four pack of Coors Light in the front seat and a trash bag with nine almost empty mini bottles of Fireball whiskey, the report said.

Hazen is charged with DUI, nine counts of having an open container and two counts of child neglect without bodily harm.
