DeLAND, Fla. – Two adults were killed and two children were seriously injured after an accident Sunday afternoon on Interstate 4 in DeLand, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said a Ford Focus driven by a North Carolina man was traveling east in the center lane of I-4 as a Nissan vehicle traveled in the left lane.

For an unknown reason, the Ford drifted into the left lane. Troopers said the left side of the Ford struck the right side of the Nissan, which left the roadway and struck a tree.

Four people from Missouri were inside the Nissan, according to the FHP's report. A man and woman were killed in the crash, and two girls had to be extricated from the vehicle, troopers said.

The family was on a Disney vacation, the Orlando Sentinel reported. The paper said that Greg and Sarah Moyers saved for months to take 13-year-old Hailey and 8-year-old Sophia to Disney World. The Leadwood, Missouri, family visited the theme parks and were headed to the beach Sunday before their long drive home.

The parents died at the scene, and the two girls were airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital. The 13-year-old girl suffered serious injuries and the 8-year-old girl suffered critical injuries, the report said.

All eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 were blocked while troopers investigated.

Troopers said charges were pending.
