ORLANDO, Fla. – A driver had to be extricated from a car after a high-speed crash Wednesday night at an Orange County speedway, according to officials.
The wreck happened at Orlando Speed World Dragway on East Colonial Drive in Orlando.
Orange County firefighters said the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he appeared to lose control of his car and struck a barrier wall.
The car flipped and landed on its roof in a wooded area near the track, officials said.
Crews used a tow truck to pull the mangled car from the woods, and the driver was removed from the vehicle.
The driver was taken to a hospital, but his condition is not known.
Track officials have not commented on the crash. The investigation has been turned over to the Florida Highway Patrol.
It's not the first accident at the speedway this year. A man suffered serious burns in March when a motorcycle engine exploded.
