Fight over jewelry leads to Apopka shooting

Robbery turned shooting in Big Lots parking lot

APOPKA, Fla. – One man is in the hospital after a shooting in a Big Lots parking lot in Apopka, and the shooter is still at large.

This shooting happened around 8 p.m. in the 700 block of South Orange Blossom Trail.

Apopka police told News 6 one man was shot in the leg after another man wanted the necklace he was wearing.

"We are working diligently to find out who did this and bring them to justice," said officer Ashley Eller, of Apopka police.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to be OK. Police are asking anyone with information about the shooter to call Crimeline at 407-423-TIPS.
