The police department said multiple measures people can take to decrease their chances of being victim to a home burglary. Some examples they explain are, advancements, improvements and cost reductions through technology, such as audible alarms or motion-activated home security cameras.
According to the caption, many statistics show that burglars are less likely to attempt to break into a home when a home security system installed.
The video starts off with a statistic showing from 2012-2017, an average of 150 burglaries occurred to homes in Winter Park each year. It continues to state even though one can't prevent all burglaries, if it does happen the Winter Park PD Ambush Prize Patrol are by their side.
The rest of the video includes a bit of comical relief to show what would happen if a Winter Park police officer caught a burglar in a resident's home.

PSA- Benefits of a Home Security SystemIn an effort to get the message out - we developed and produced a PSA to bring attention to Home Burglaries. The video is comedic in nature (please enjoy) - but there is a very important message. There are measures you can take to decrease your chances of being victim to a home burglary. Advancements, improvements and cost reduction has made technology a viable and effective options. AUDIBLE ALARMS Burglars don’t like audible alarm systems….once a window is broken or a closed door is pushed/forced open, a screaming siren alerts neighbors, sending the burglar on their way – quickly. MOTION-ACTIVATED HOME SECURITY CAMERAS Most burglaries take place during the day, when home owners are likely to be at work or school. With many systems, you can be immediately alerted if the camera detects motion. You can immediately evaluate the situation – calling 911 if you see someone trying to get into your home or inside your home (uninvited). “Smart” doorbell systems will notify you when someone is approaching or on your front porch. These security camera systems not only provide immediate notification to you, but also record images, which may be helpful to police in identifying a would-be burglar. Many statistics have shown that burglars are less likely to attempt to break into a home in which there is a home security system installed. In addition, in the case of those burglars who do attempt a break-in into a home with a home security system, the likelihood of them being apprehended is substantially higher than them getting away. Consider technology to help keep your home safe. Always – if you see something suspicious in your neighborhood, call police immediately. See Something, Say Something!
