Lake Nona High School students disciplined after fight

'Food fight' led to 2nd fight outside cafeteria, students say

LAKE NONA, Fla. – Two Lake Nona High School students were disciplined for fighting and another won't be able to walk at graduation after being involved in cafeteria food fight on Tuesday.

School officials said they are trying to figure out who was involved in the food fight inside of the cafeteria, which had about 1,000 students ranging from ninth-graders to 12th-graders.

Orlando police said the "food fight" required no law enforcement and was being handled administratively by the school.

The seniors who did throw food will not be walking at graduation on June 4, according to school officials.

The incident inside of the cafeteria likely sparked a fight captured on video on Instagram outside of the cafeteria, students tell Local 6.

The video shows two male students punching each other as on-lookers gather around them. The video ends when the two fall into a planter.

School officials haven't confirmed the video was taken at the high school but say two students have been disciplined for fighting.

The underclassmen involved in the fight will be suspended for the six-day remainder of the school year.

The planned "Senior Walk," a ceremony where all seniors parade out of school on their last day, was canceled as a result of the fight.

Parents were voicing their concerns on the Lake Nona High School Class of 2014 Facebook page, saying they don't think it's fair that all senior were punished because of what they say are the actions of few.
