Disney Live Entertainment’s Jeff Conover teamed up with renowned puppet designer Michael Curry, the creator of some of the puppets featured in the Tony Award-winning musical “The Lion King” to bring to life a massive Te Kā puppet, a spectacle of unprecedented scale. Te Kā's fiery persona undergoes a stunning metamorphosis into the serene island goddess, Te Fiti, during the show, Disney Cruise Line said in a news release.

The show will incorporate a new song, “Warrior Face,” which features Moana and Maui imparting valuable life lessons.

Disney Cruise Line said this addition joins classic songs like “You’re Welcome” and “How Far I’ll Go” from the Grammy-winning soundtrack.

Set on the fictional island of Motunui, the production weaves Pacific Islands cultures into its fabric, narrated by Gramma Tala. The ship’s Walt Disney Theatre will undergo a transformation, “transporting” audiences from Motunui to the open ocean, guided by a glowing manta ray symbolizing courage.

“Disney The Tale of Moana” joins the stellar lineup aboard the Disney Treasure, including other show favorites like “Beauty and the Beast” and “Disney Seas the Adventure.”

The brand new ship is set to launch from Port Canaveral on Dec. 21, 2024.

The ship is currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. The company said last month that the ship is now “structurally complete” will all sections now in place.
