WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – Students with a water gun forced officials at Winter Springs High School to put the school on a brief Code Red on Monday afternoon, according to a news release.

A spokesperson with Seminole County Public Schools said the Code Red was issued out of an abundance of caution after “two individuals were spotted with what turned out to be a green toy water gun.”

Winter Springs police and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office both responded to the school, officials said.

“Proper disciplinary actions have been taken in accordance with our student code of conduct,” according to Seminole County Public Schools.

The incident also caused nearby Indian Trails Middle School to be placed on a Code Yellow, officials said.
