Brightline to focus on Orlando-to-Miami routes, shifting monthly subscriptions

After June 1, big changes are coming to monthly discount passes

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Brightline station has enough ridership for the company to focus long distance routes.

This means starting June 1, there are big changes to monthly discount passes.

According to Brightline’s website, their “smart” plan from Miami to West Palm Beach currently costs $399 for one month, which includes 40 trips. After June 1, a similar plan costs $350 for only 10 trips.

Kemisha Mantle and Trudy Ann-Thomas were traveling back to Fort Lauderdale from the Orlando Brightline station on Tuesday.

“It reminded me of an airplane anyway because of the service, the scanning. It was not as we expected,” Mantle said.

“They said it’s like an airplane, but to be honest, I think in terms of space, it’s a bit better, much better,” Ann-Thomas said. “We are looking forward to having such a nice experience going back.”

The two said that for a couple of years, people have grown accustomed to the discounted plan in South Florida.

“Going back, it’s the foundation of what they had before. If they are coming out and extending, they shouldn’t take that away from the folks in South Florida,” Ann-Thomas said.

Brightline has also announced plans to connect the Orlando station to Tampa.
