Man found dead after apparent accidental drowning in Indian River, sheriff’s office says

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A man was found dead in the Indian River near Merritt Island on Friday, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

The body was called in around 3:40 p.m. by a person who saw it near the bridge off State Road 528, around mile marker 47, the sheriff’s office said in a statement on Saturday.

The sheriff’s office’s preliminary investigation points to an accidental drowning, the statement reads.
