Deadly triple shooting erupts in Osceola County

Two victims were hospitalized, one dead, fire official reported

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A triple shooting broke out on Monday evening, leaving one person dead, according to Osceola Fire and Rescue.

A fire official initially told News 6 that two other victims were taken to the hospital.

In an update later Monday night, deputies said they received a 911 call about the shooting shortly after 5 p.m. at 2841 Sheffield Circle in Kissimmee.

Sheriff Chris Blackmon said that one of the victims was a woman in critical condition, and the other victim is her 18-year-old son, who is similarly in serious condition. Both are in surgery.

Meanwhile, investigators revealed that the man who died appeared to have shot himself.

“Detectives are still confirming the relationship between the woman and the deceased male, but believe this shooting may be domestically related,” the sheriff’s office noted.

Residents in the community described the incident as shocking, especially in what they considered a close-knit, family-oriented neighborhood.

“It’s just completely shocking, especially being home. You want home to be a safe space,” neighbor Tyler Joy Grant said. “You just never know what silent battles people are going through and fighting, so we just need to be kind community.”

Grant said the family had only recently moved into the neighborhood and that she had spoken with them just one day earlier.

“It was a brief interaction, so it was just a hi, bye, friendly neighborhood,” Grant said. “They are new to the neighborhood, so it was just a warm welcome.”

Grant said neighbors regularly gather and greet one another around the complex.

“Usually I just go in for coffee and I come out to say hello to neighbors, so we are definitely just a cordial community, a tight-knit community, family-oriented,” she said. “So it’s definitely a shock for what happened today.”
