Ivan Enrique-Figueroa-Serrano faces murder charge

CLERMONT, Fla. – An arrest was made after a man's body was found in the trunk of a burning car that had been stolen late Monday night, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Ivan Enrique-Figueroa-Serrano was arrested late Tuesday at an apartment in Orlando after a positive identification was made by a second victim, officials said. He faces several charges, including felony murder.

According to the arrest affidavit, the victims met up with the suspect in Orlando. One of the victim's was awaiting for the other victim to return his aunt's 2014 gray Ford Mustang. After the victim did not return, the surviving victim approached the suspect to find out why.

Detectives said the victim was being held at gunpoint by an unknown male and they were arguing about the victim allegedly stealing from him.

Serrano told the victim, "This is what happens when you hang out with him," according to the arrest affidavit. Serrano later forced the two victims into the Mustang's trunk and they were driven to the the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 and Schofield Road in Clermont. The surviving victim told deputies that's when Serrano set the car on fire and when the victims tried to get out Serrano shot the two men in the truck, deputies said.

The surviving victim tried to pull the other man from the trunk, but was unsuccessful, deputies said.

Lake County Sgt. Fred Jones said the department received multiple 911 calls late Monday night about the man waving down cars asking for help.

Deputies said a man was in the middle of North Bradshaw Road in Clermont, attempting to flag down vehicles, and when authorities contacted him, he and his friend had been carjacked and his friend was still in the trunk of the vehicle, which was set on fire.

The man was suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, deputies said. He told deputies he had been shot after being forced into the trunk, but managed to escape with the car on fire.

The carjacked vehicle was found smoldering in a field near an orange grove at Schofield Road after a search of the area. The victim was found dead in the trunk, according to the report. He has not been identified.

Jones said it's too early to know if the crime was drug-related.

"We are not ruling anything out," Jones said. "We are going to look at everything. We've got multiple detectives working on it and we've got different leads to see if it checks out."

The victim's cause of death is pending.
