ORLANDO, Fla. – Inmate records confirmed Tuesday night that an ex-girlfriend of Markeith Loyd has posted bail and been released from jail.
Jameis Slaughter, 25, was arrested last month on allegations she helped Loyd avoid capture after the deaths of Sade Dixon, also an ex-girlfriend of Loyd, and Orlando police Lt. Debra Clayton.
Earlier Tuesday, a judge ruled that the bail for Slaughter be lowered from $500,000 to $20,000.
Slaughter was also ordered by the judge not to have contact with Loyd or two others accused of helping him: Lakensha Smith Loyd and Zarghee Mayan. She was told to not attempt to get a passport.
The judge said Slaughter could have access to electronic devices if she posted bail.
Slaughter's attorney said in court documents that his client suffers from mental health issues, including depression and bipolar disorder, but the issue was not addressed in public at the hearing.
Slaughter was the third person arrested in connection with Loyd to seek a bail reduction.
Loyd's niece, Smith Loyd, who is accused of picking up money for Loyd at his former workplace, was released from jail after a judge reduced her bail from $750,000 to $10,000.
Mayan, Loyd's former boss who is accused of giving the money to Smith Loyd, remains jailed on $400,000 bail. A judge refused to lower his bond at a recent court hearing.
The state said Slaughter, Smith Loyd and Mayan all played a vital role in helping Loyd, who remained on the lam for nine days after Clayton's death. The state also said the trio are a danger to the community.
Loyd was arrested last month after an extensive manhunt and faces several charges, including two counts of murder.
