Mom, daughter held at knifepoint in Orange City Walmart parking lot

911 call released describing moment 2 men walked up with knife

ORANGE CITY, Fla. – A local mother gave a chilling call to 911 after she and her 11-year-old daughter were held up at knifepoint in Walmart parking lot Wednesday afternoon.

Rachel Davis, 39, had just ordered dinner from Chick-fil-A and parked her car at the nearby Walmart parking lot off Veteran's Memorial Parkway in Orange City.

While she and her daughter ate their meals with the windows down, two men walked up to her window with a knife.

Dispatcher: "911, what is your emergency?"
Caller: "I was just held up at knife point in the Walmart parking lot."

She never saw the men before they attacked. Davis said the parking lot was empty and she thinks that's what made her a target.

Caller: "They came up behind me and they stood behind me ... And I looked out the window and the one said, 'We want money. We want money now. We're not [expletive] playing.' And I turned a little bit and the second one put the knife to the window."

The man held the knife inches away, so she handed them $100 in cash and did whatever they wanted to keep herself and her daughter safe.

Police arrested Brandon Hinkle, 33, and Joseph Lawler, 38 and also caught a third man in their getaway car who said the two men stated they planned to rob someone.
