ORLANDO, Fla. – The niece of a man wanted for shooting and killing an Orlando police officer was arrested Tuesday, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Lakensha Smith-Loyd,27, of Orlando, is charged with aiding a murder suspect --her uncle Markeith Loyd, 41-- helping him avoid authorities after police said he shot and killed his pregnant ex-girlfriend on Dec. 13, according to the arrest warrant.
Smith-Loyd is the second person arrested Wednesday for allegedly helping Loyd.
Zarghee Mayan,33, of Orlando, was also arrested by the Orange County Sheriff's Office on a charge of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.
Loyd went to Mayan asking for food and money after the Dec. 13 shooting death of his ex-girlfriend 24-year-old Sade Dixon, according to the documents.
Mayan told detectives Smith-Loyd picked up $200 and brought it to her uncle, according to the report.
Orlando police Chief John Mina said Tuesday that arrest warrants were being prepared for people who aided and abetted Loyd after Sade's murder.
Loyd is also wanted in the shooting death of Orlando police Master Sgt. Debra Clayton, 42, who was slain Monday after confronting Loyd outside a Walmart, according to authorities.
Smith-Loyd was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail.
