OVIEDO, Fla. – Oviedo police shot a man on Thursday morning who they say was revving his engine at officers and trying to run them over.
Officers responded to a 911 call on Sharon Court near Mitchell Hammock Road in Oviedo where the caller whispered "send police," before hanging up.

When officers arrived, they said they tried to approach the vehicle when the vehicle began revving his engine and came around the police vehicles in an aggressive manner directly at an officer.
"The aggressive actions of the suspect caused the life of the officer to be in immediate jeopardy, resulting in his use of deadly force," police said in a release.
Officers fired several shots at the victim, who was hit twice and continued to drive to a house in Orange County on Peppercorn Drive about 20 minutes away. The vehicle was left at the intersection of Medeira and Cherinoa Court in Orlando and a resident called 911.
Officials said no officers were injured.
The man, identified as Jason Scott, 33, was shot at least twice - once in the arm and once in the stomach, police said. He underwent surgery and is in stable condition. He will be charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and fleeing and eluding.
"This is the first officer involved shooting for Oviedo Police in over thirty years," police said in a release.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the shooting and forward the investigation to the State Attorney. Officer Matthew Danler, 37, was put on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the FDLE investigation.
