Orange County deputies swarm Azalea Park home after man shot in arm

1 man shot in arm, cops say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County deputies are investigating after a man was shot on Wednesday morning at a home in Azalea Park.

The incident was reported on Dogwood Drive at around 4 a.m.

Lt. Chris Hall with the Orange County Sheriff's Office said deputies at the scene cleared everyone out of the house to investigate.

"We found a scene, the neighbors car with bullet holes in it, got everybody out of the house, made sure nobody else was injured," said Hall.

Hours after deputies spoke with people living in the house, detectives said the shots may have been fired in response to a burglary.

"There's a window in the house that was busted out. Allegedly, a suspect tried to gain entry to the house with a crowbar, and then he was fired upon, he took off running, and ended up down the street where they called us," said DS Lourdes Clayton with the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the suspect, Emanuel Edgardo Sosa Lopez, 25, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in the arm and walking to the Florida Highway Patrol headquarters on Semoran Boulevard to ask for help.

No other details were immediately available.

This is an ongoing investigation.
