Pedestrian dead after being struck by Sunrail train in Seminole County, deputies say

Incident happened near 800 block of Sunrail Drive

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a Sunrail train Friday night in unincorporated Sanford, authorities said.

Deputies went to the Sunrail station in the 800 block of Sunrail Drive around 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office said deputies spoke with Sunrail officials, who indicated that someone had been struck by a train.

Investigators are treating the incident as a possible suicide based upon witness statements, the Sheriff's Office said.

The Sunrail train was headed toward the last stop of the night. The Sheriff's Office said there were 28 passengers and two crew members on board, none of whom were injured. The passengers were transported from the scene to the station in DeBary by Votran bus, Sunrail officials said.
