Robber shot in struggle over gun with victim, Orlando police say

Man believed to be involved in robbery taken to hospital

ORLANDO, Fla. – A robber was shot Wednesday night by an apartment tenant at the Vista Verde Apartments in Orlando, police said.

The Orlando Police Department said two unknown men entered an apartment off Hiawassee Road and were confronted by the tenant.

Police said one of the robbers pointed a gun at the victim, who told police he and the gunman then got into a struggle over the gun, causing it to go off. Police said the culprit was wounded in the incident.

Police said both suspects left the area, but a gunshot victim was dropped off behind a Metro PCS at 5405 Texas Avenue about 30 minutes later. The injured man, who police said they believe may have been involved in the robbery, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.

No other details have been released.
