Saint Cloud High School band tries to recover from theft

End-of-the-year performance seeks to raise money

SAINT CLOUD, Fla. – Members of the Saint Cloud High School band are trying to raise money to pay their bills after investigators said a thief stole money from their bank account.

News 6 reported the theft last week when the band booster club treasurer, Lora Lynn Gordon, was arrested for stealing more than $5,000.

Investigators said she used the money for her own pleasure, spending it on cigarettes, lotto tickets, clothing, jewelry and more.

"It was shocking, I guess, because that's someone who's family to the rest of the band," said senior Joshua Martinez.

Thursday night, the band performed its end-of-the-year concert in hopes of raising money during the performance. Band Director Ed Nagel told News 6 they still have more bills to pay.

"I think it was just the feeling of a betrayal of trust," he said.

If you would like to help St Cloud High School's band recover its losses, send donations to SCHS Band, 2000 Bulldog Lane, Saint Cloud, FL 34769.
