NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – A shark bit a 51-year-old woman Wednesday afternoon at New Smyrna Beach, according to Volusia County Beach Patrol.
The woman, who is from Georgia, was bitten on the thigh. She suffered minor injuries.

The bite happened around 1 p.m. in the 200 North area.
Officials said it is unclear what type of shark it was because no one saw it.
The first shark bite of the year in Volusia County happened the morning of March 27, also in New Smyrna Beach.
In that incident, a shark bit a 58-year-old man on the foot while he was surfing.
