How you can help after mass shooting at Orlando nightclub

Call OneBlood at 1-888-9Donate to make appointment

The public responded overwhelmingly Sunday after One Blood put out an urgent call for blood donations, especially Type O, in Orlando after a mass shooting at a nightclub.

All One Blood locations were at capacity Sunday afternoon, and the blood center stopped taking donations by 5 p.m.

Donors were asked to instead call 888-936-6283 to make appointments over the next several days, when blood supplies will need to be replenished.

OneBlood said there was an urgent need for O Negative, O Positive, and AB Plasma blood donors.

You can find the hours and locations of One Blood here or reach them by phone at 1-888-9Donate.

The need comes after police say at least 50 people were slain at an Orlando nightclub. The shooter was killed in a shootout with police.

In addition to the slayings, at least 53 other victims were taken to area hospitals for medical treatment, police said. There were an estimated 320 people in the club when it opened Saturday night.
