ORLANDO, Fla. – A man under arrest on allegations of beating and stabbing a woman with part of a broomstick handle is now facing murder charges.
Michael McKenzie, 36, is facing upgraded charges after the victim died from her injuries.

Police responded May 8 to the railroad tracks at 300 North Parramore about a woman screaming for help.
Officers saw Patricia Spencer, 37, lying on the ground beaten about her body and with a wooden shard from a broom handle protruding straight from her mouth, Orlando police said.
Several witnesses gave a description of the suspect and his direction of travel. Police said within a few minutes the suspect, identified as Michael McKenzie, 36, was apprehended in the area of 742 W. Jefferson St.
McKenzie was charged with attempted second-degree murder and resisting an officer without violence, according to the arrest affidavit.
His charges have since been upgraded to first-degree murder with a weapon.
