Girl has baseball signed by 'hero' female Army reservist

Makenna Woodburn, 7, leaves line for Red Sox player to get autograph

SOUTH FORT MYERS, Fla. – A young Florida girl made a lasting connection with a U.S. Army reservist after asking for her autograph at a baseball game.

Makenna Woodburn, 7, was waiting to get an autograph from a Boston Red Sox player, when she got out of line and approached reservist Olyvia Russell.

Woodburn told Russell she was her "hero" and asked her to sign the ball.

Russell is in her first year with the Reserves and works as a 92 Alpha, maintaining equipment and parts for warehouses.

A picture of Woodburn getting the autograph was posted online and quickly went viral.

Woodburn said she plans on using her allowance to buy a glass case for the baseball.
