MAITLAND, Fla. – Two major ramp changes will go into effect late Friday night as part of The Big Drive.
The first change will be a new exit location on the westbound I-4 ramp onto eastbound Maitland Blvd.
"Signage will direct [drivers] onto a new loop ramp, which will take them onto eastbound Maitland Boulevard," said Jack Leider, the I-4 Ultimate project manager.
Also, a new ramp that will allow westbound traffic on Maitland Boulevard to access I-4 west. Drivers will make a left turn instead of a right turn onto I-4.
"Westbound Maitland Boulevard traffic will no longer make a right hand turn to get onto I-4 westbound along this route. It will be closed. Westbound traffic on Maitland Boulevard will come up to a revised signal that will make a left onto the new ramp and get onto I-4 in that direction," Leider said.
The new routes will be well-marked, according to project officials.
"Please pay attention to the new signage and put your phones down. Our biggest concern isn't our opening on Saturday morning. It's more (about) Monday morning's rush hour traffic," Leider said.
