ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A tractor-trailer carrying shirts and shoes crashed, overturned and caught fire early Friday on the Beachline in Orange County, forcing officials to close the toll road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. on eastbound State 528 near State Road 520.
Eastbound lanes of S.R. 528 remains closed in the area. Drivers are forced to exit at S.R. 520.
According to the FHP, Rodney Reese, 23, of Brooksville, was driving the semitrailer when he lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason. The big rig struck a guardrail before hitting a wall and overturning, troopers said.
The cab and trailer caught fire, but the road did not appear to be damaged, FHP spokeswoman Kim Montes said.
