Leesburg man, 87, killed in head-on crash with Mack truck, FHP says

YALAHA, Fla. – An 87-year-old Leesburg man died Wednesday morning in a crash with a Mack truck in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal crash was reported at 7:40 a.m. on County Road 48 at Lime Avenue.

The FHP said the man, whose name has not been released, was driving a 2007 four-door Lincoln east on C.R. 48 when he traveled over the double yellow line and struck a truck hauling fertilizer head-on.

The driver of the Lincoln was taken to Waterman Hospital and later died, the FHP said.

The driver of the truck, a 70-year-old Orlando man, was not injured.

An investigation is continuing.
