Freeze warning in effect for parts of Central Florida Sunday night

Patchy frost likely to form

ORLANDO, Fla. – Sunday has been a sunny and chilly day, with another cold night ahead, rolling into Monday morning.

There's also a chance for some patchy frost in low-lying areas in Central Florida.

"Sunday was a beautiful day from inside," News 6 weather anchor Danny Treanor said. "When the wind wasn't a factor, it was actually pretty nice, especially compared to the Northeast."

A freeze warning will be in effect for Marion and Sumter counties Sunday night until Monday morning.

Cold air will linger into the night, but a bit of a breeze will only allow some patchy frost to appear.

"It's going to be another night to bring in the pets," Treanor said.

Temperatures will begin to moderate, as they jump to 72 degrees by Tuesday, but another small cold front will drop them back down into the 60s Wednesday.

The next mention of rain in the forecast is a 20 percent chance Friday, followed by cool air again for the weekend.

"The official beginning of winter is still 11 days away and Christmas is 14 days away," Treanor said.
