A tornado watch was issued early Sunday for most counties in Central Florida, but no major damage was reported. A watch means weather conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop.
Weather spotters in Sarasota County said a tornado touched down there and caused damage. Video from the scene showed at least one home that sustained serious damage.

As the storms moved east, more than 100 Florida Power and Light customers were without power on Merritt Island and in Titusville and Melbourne, where trees were toppled. Nearly 400 Duke Energy customers were without power near West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway and State Road 417.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service tweeted that the Orlando NOAA Weather Radio transmitter is not functioning. Technicians on Sunday continued to work to resolve the problem, which was caused by a malfunctioning AT&T phone line, officials said.
The NWS has several transmitters around Central Florida, and the Orlando transmitter is located atop a tower at WKMG-TV. The NWS rents the space from News 6, as do wireless carriers, other broadcasting companies and federal agencies.
It's not known when AT&T expected to issue to be fixed.
The Florida Highway Patrol said that the Skyway Bridge was closed at 3:35 a.m. Sunday as wind speeds were averaging 50-60 with gust between 60-70 mph. The Skyway was reopened at 4:10 a.m. as weather conditions permitted. The bridge closed again at 9 a.m. Sunday due to high winds, it was reported reopened at 12:30 p.m.
Thunderstorms and lightning began firing up shortly after midnight in the Orlando area, but once the front passes through, there will be clear skies and slightly cooler temperatures.
