Despite near-record highs Sunday, central Florida still gets visit from Santa

Santa, reindeer stop by Orlando while 'snow' falls

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is looking at near-record highs Sunday.

"Daytona Beach will be the closest to their record today of 85 and their forecast high for today is 84," News 6 meteorologist Madeline Evans said.

Orlando will reach a high of 85 degrees with its record high being 90.

There is a 40 percent coverage of rain throughout the day with  mostly cloudy skies.

Orlando stayed for most of the morning, then some showers will move in by 1 p.m.

"The showers will be light to scattered showers, nothing widespread or any downpours," Evans said.

Despite the hot temperatures, Orlando still got to feel a little bit of the Christmas spirit Sunday.

Santa and two of his reindeer visited Alexandra Court while "snow" was falling. Children and their families were able to see Santa and spend some time with the reindeer. Some kids even got to break out the sleds for a bit, thanks to a snow machine.

Sunday night, Orlando will reach a low of 67 with a chance of showers and late fog developing once again.

Temperatures will start to slowly cool down into the 70s as the next work week begins.

Rain chances will stay through Friday.
