Weather: Fire threat looms as warming trend continues

No chance for rain

ORLANDO, Fla. – For the third day, temperatures zoomed into the mid 80s by mid-afternoon Wednesday with no chance of rain relief for scorched Central Florida on the forecast.

Tuesday evening may see a few coastal showers roll in, but most of those will die off quickly.

Later in the night the sky will be partly cloud and the low will drop to 62 degrees.

Thursday will be more of the same with a high of 84 degrees, chief meterorologist Tom Sorrells said.

It will also be windy again with gust from the north-northeast up to 25 mph.

Good Friday will be warm and dry with a high of 84 degrees, Saturday will be the same.

Easter Sunday temperatures rise slightly with a high of 85 degrees, but again, no rain.

"For as far as we can see there is no chance of appreciable rain," Sorrells said.

These dry, windy conditions have been fueling the brush fires in Central Florida. Major roads were shutdown again Wednesday due to poor visibility.

State Road 528 was shut down in both directions from State Road 520 to Interstate 95, after being closed for a third straight day of major roadways being closed in Orange and Brevard counties due to smoke from brush fires.

State Road 520 was closed in both directions from the St. Johns River area to Interstate 95.

All roads were open by 11 a.m.
