Heat lingers in Central Florida

90-degree temperatures in Orlando-area forecast

ORLANDO, Fla. – High heat is expected to linger in Central Florida.

"We continue to pinpoint high pressure off to the east of Florida," News 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said. "That will send in a south wind, leading to a warm afternoon."

Rain chances will remain in the picture, but will stay low for the next several days.

"Although rain chances will be low, we're pinpointing east- and west-coast seabreeze action firing up late in the afternoon each of the next several days," Bridges said.

Expect a 20 percent chance of rain on Thursday, with a 30 percent coverage of rain on Friday.

Rain chances drop to 10 percent on Saturday and Sunday.

"The main weather story for the next several days will be the heat," Bridges said.

Expect a high temperature of 89 in Orlando on Thursday. It will be 90 on Friday, and 92 on Saturday.

The average afternoon high in Orlando on this date is 84.

"Highs stay in the upper 80s Into next week," Bridges said. "Rain chances will only be at 10 percent through the weekend but higher at 20 percent next week."
