Fun things to do in Central Florida other than theme parks

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is known for its theme parks, but being a local, sometimes you're looking for other things to do. If you're not a local, you may have visited the area several times, and now you're looking for other options. Here's a list of other fun things you can do with your family.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex 

There is so much to do here, it may take more than a day to get through it all. You can tour NASA's operational facilities, see exhibits of older spacecraft, and even have lunch with an astronaut. Tickets start at $57 for adults at $47 for kids. 

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum

This wax museum has locations across the world, but each museum is a little different. In Orlando, you'll be able to rub shoulders with President Donald Trump, sit down with Walt Disney, walk with the Beatles, and see countless other celebrities. Tickets start at $25 for adults and $20 for kids.

Sea Life Orlando Aquarium 

At this aquarium, you can watch as fish, sharks, and turtles swim above, beneath, and all around you. You can also go behind the scenes, and learn more about what divers do to take care of the fish. Tickets start at $25 for adults and $20 for kids.

Icon Orlando

Formerly called the Orlando Eye, Icon allows you to get a 360-degree view of Orlando from up to 400 feet in the air. It's the tallest observation wheel on the East Coast of the United States. Tickets start at $15 if you fly before 4 p.m. For close to $50 you can see Madame Tussauds, Sealife Orlando Aquarium, and the Orlando Icon. Also in this area is the Orlando StarFlyer. It's set of swings that go up to 450 feet in the air, and rotates 360 degrees at up to 45 miles per hour. 

Gatorland

This attraction calls itself the alligator capital of the world. There you can see alligators and crocodiles of all sizes. It also has more than just reptiles. They have animal shows, a zip line over a gator pit, and their new off-roading adventure. Tickets start at $30 for adults and $20 for kids.

Wild Florida

Here you will get to experience the Florida Everglades. This park features alligators, airboat rides, and a wildlife park where you can see lemurs, sloths, zebras, and other animals. The Half Day Adventure package starts at $75 for adults and $65 for kids. It includes a one-hour airboat tour and the wildlife park.

Revolution Off Road

With 220 acres of trails, you can drive an ATV throughout this Lake County Property. Each session is two hours and you must be 16 years or older. It's a fun activity for new ATV riders and experienced ones. They have different types of self-driving experiences, including the 8-wheeler mucky duck that lets you drive the vehicle through lakes and ponds. Tickets start at $85.
