The show from theatre company, Open Scene, is part of the inaugural Collective Incubator Program at Orlando Fringe’s Fringe ArtSpace.
Open Scene was founded by Thamara Bejarano. She’s a Venezuelan immigrant who left her country’s dictatorship in 2014. When she left, she also had to drop her career as a film professor and audiovisual producer.
She worked as a stage manager and actress for several years before she was able to establish her own theatre company in 2019.
The goal of the organization is to be a beacon of hope and unity, and provide a representation for the Hispanic and Latinx communities.
Bejarano created “Vida” alongside producer, Mariela Saad.
“When we created VIDA, we knew exactly who we wanted. Ana Cuellar is an amazing choreographer who worked for 14 years at Cirque’s du Soleil La Nouba. She is VIDA’s choreographer and the main performer. Charles Griffin, the composer of VIDA’s music, connected us with the outstanding cellist Jamie Clark, who not only teaches at Stetson University, but has performed with the extraordinary Yo-Yo Ma,” Saad explained.
The show represents the journey through the different stages of life and the emotions we feel during them.
“Every single detail of VIDA was created with so much detail and intention to allow audiences to enjoy the experience with all their senses. It is beautiful to see, to hear, and even to feel,” said Bejarano.
“Vida” is recommended for all ages. Click here for ticket information.
