These are the most ‘up-and-coming’ small cities. So many are in Florida

Earlier this month, MoneyGeek released its list of the most “up-and-coming” small cities in the United States.

According to MoneyGeek, Florida and Texas were the top areas for potential growth. Of the 25 cities to make the list, 10 were in the Sunshine State.

North Port in Florida topped the ranking at No. 1, seeing a 28% increase in population and 43% jump in housing units since 2017, MoneyGeek reports.

In Central Florida, two cities made the cut: Palm Coast (No. 9) and Daytona Beach (No. 12).

When it comes to attracting newcomers, the report says that Kissimmee leads the pack, ranking No. 1 for net migration, No. 36 for average annual GDP growth, and No. 31 in five-year housing unit changes.

Meanwhile, The Villages ranked as the top city for community well-being in terms of violent crime rates.
