Dark garage? Change the bulb in your garage door motor in minutes!

Step-by-step repair

ORLANDO, Fla. – Nicki asked us to help her light up her garage. The electric garage door motor no longer lit up when she pulled her car into the garage so she’s fallen while trying to make her way to the door in the dark.

We said we’d Get Results at Home for Nicki because it was as easy as screwing in a (new) lightbulb!

Step 1

Open up the lightbulb cover on the garage door motor. Most covers can be released by lifting the cover edges on the sides over the tabs holding the cover in place. Climb up to the motor and cover using a step-stool or step ladder. Pull on the sides of the cover to release it and it should flip down, exposing the light bulb. Some motors have two lightbulbs. And some lightbulb covers are held in place with screws – usually Phillips-head screws which can be easily removed using a Phillips-head screwdriver.

Step 2

Unscrew the old lightbulb and screw in the new lightbulb. It’s really as simple as that.

Step 3

Close the cover making sure to push it over the tabs and locking it in place.

You just got results at home!
