High temperatures have been near 80° for the past few days. We’ve also had a few summer-like showers/storms. In fact, we’re going to be even warmer for the end of the week and the weekend. Temperatures will be in the mid-80s! We will be closer to some record-high temperatures Friday through Saturday.

🥵That’s not cool, November!

🌪️Night of the twisters in the nation’s heartland

Troy mentioned the severe weather in the heartland of the U.S. as a rare December tornado outbreak unfolded last Friday. Meteorologist Jonathan Kegges here to break down one of the tornadoes. We now know the tornado that moved through Mayfield has been rated a high-end EF-4 with winds of 190 mph at its peak.

It stayed on the ground for nearly 130 miles. It was likely on the ground longer, but more information needs to be submitted from other National Weather Service survey teams. Here’s how the radar looked as the storm was moving through Mayfield.

Severe weather continued Wednesday, but this time in unprecedented fashion. The Upper Midwest and Plains were hammered by wind and tornadoes. If a tornado is in fact confirmed in Minnesota (there were multiple tornado warnings and damage reported), it would be the first in recorded history to impact the land of 10,000 lakes.

🌪 Tornado season part 2? 🤔

Spring, summer, winter, or fall. Tornadoes can form anytime given the right ingredients. Hey there Insiders, it’s meteorologist Samara Cokinos here with you. I was stirring my coffee watching the swirling of the cream take over my cup when I remembered a lot of questions people have asked me about the insane weather we’ve been watching. In case you missed it, tornadoes have been breaking news headlines a lot in the last week.

Many have asked how is it possible, it’s almost winter. Well, there’s a part two and we’re here to address it. Tornadoes, while most active in spring and summer months, also happen in the cooler months. The kicker is location and the fuel.
