💦Island H2O Water Park reopens this weekend in Kissimmee
If you’re ready to make a splash, this is the place to do it! Island H2O is Central Florida’s newest water park with some pretty unique slides for kids and adults to enjoy. This water park claims to be the most “technologically advanced water park in Florida.” Visitors will receive a wristband that can be paired with an app that can control music and light patterns for a customized experience in the water slides. Oh, and you can collect points by riding slides and using the selfie stations that can be redeemed for free food and merchandise. 🌊Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team continues tradition, 100 years of sport
Cypress Gardens, Florida’s first theme park, featured water ski shows that began in 1943 in Winter Haven. Millions of visitors would watch the talented skiers and “Aquamaids.” Although the theme park closed in 2009, the Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team continues its tradition, hosting free water ski shows along Lake Silver every first and third Saturday of the month. If these talented skiers don’t amaze you, maybe you’ll want to check out my first time water skiing with the team. (Yes, they even dressed me up in the sparkling outfits.)
🛥️‘Airbnb of boats:’ App offers rentals in Central Florida
If buying a new boat is not in your budget, you may want to consider renting. The GetMyBoat App offers boat rentals in more than 150 countries, and many boat owners here in Central Florida are taking advantage of the platform. If you can’t operate a boat, some rentals even provide Captains to take the helm. Would you try it?
🎷Apopka International Jazz Festival features Latin, Asian musical influence
Back for its second show, the Apopka International Jazz Fest is bound to get you out of your seats and dancing. The headliner is Jeffrey Osborne who will be sharing the stage with Hiroshima, Nestor Torres, Dee Lucas and more. She was an internationally-renowned pianist and vocalist, who was well before her time, not only in the music world but in business as well, at a time when Black women rarely accomplished in what she did. For #WomensHistoryMonth, we spoke with her daughters to get more insight on the ‘Queen of the Keys’ and how she broke barriers to open a casino and hotel in the ‘40s.
