After warming to near 90 for the past couple of days, we have highs in the low 80s.

You’ll notice rain chances are sticking around through the weekend as the sea breezes fire up. This is a summer-like pattern starting a little early across Central Florida.

Ida officially in the record books

We all pretty much knew it when it happened, but Wednesday it became official. Meteorologist Jonathan Kegges with you to talk about last hurricane season. This week the hurricane committee of the World Meteorological Organization had their annual meeting to reflect on last year’s season and to look ahead to the next. It’s at this meeting, if storms meet criteria for retirement, are officially retired, never to be used again.

Storm names are on a six-year rotation and are reused, unless of course they are retired. Here’s more on Ida’s retirement.

The Rain is Getting Intense ☂️

As Troy mentioned, rain chances are returning to our forecast. Chief meteorologist Tom Sorrells here. We are not quite into the rainy season in Central Florida. But today I want to focus on rainfall. Specifically intense rainfall. As a general rule a warmer atmosphere can hold more moisture. More moisture means heavier rain.
