LAKE NONA, Fla. – Nemours Hospital has posted job openings for nearly 600 people for the new children's hospital.
Nemours has 16 job categories, for jobs ranging from telephone operators to nurses and physicians.
The hospital, which will be located in Lake Nona Medical City, will open Oct. 22, 2012. To get interviewees prepared for the job selection process, the Nemours Family Advisory Council hosted interview training for local parents.
The Nemours Family Advisory Council is made up of local parents, many who have children with chronic health conditions. They have had input on the hospital design and are now helping select the team who works at the hospital by taking part in the interview process.
"I think the health care system works best when you have the physician and health care professionals working with the parents because the parent knows the child very well," said parent Linda Griffin.
Parents will help interview the people with the hospital administrators. Hospital officials said the parents will have a great input on who is hired and that they have not hired people before because they didn't interview with parents.
Nemours has already received more than 11,000 applications, but they still urge people to apply.
The jobs are posted on their website's Careers section.
