SR 50 reopens in Orange County

FHP troopers monitor smoke from brush fire

BITHLO, Fla. – Authorities on Friday reopened State Road 50 in east Orange County after it had been closed for the third straight day because of brush fire smoke.

S.R. 50 was closed in both directions between Lansing Street and State Road 520 near Bithlo.

Troopers conducted patrols through the closed section of the roadway to determine visibility, and the highway was reopened around 8:15 a.m.

Drivers were diverted onto State Road 520, which connects to the Beachline (S.R. 528).

Several brush fires are burning across Central Florida, and more dry weather is expected to continue in the region.
