Suspects detail crime spree in videotaped confession

Dozens of cars, garages broken into in same neighborhood

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – More than 12 vehicles and two garages all broken into on the same day in the same neighborhood.

Electronics, surf boards, even a mini-motorcycle were all stolen from Ormond Beach's Hunter's Ridge subdivision.

Two suspects are facing charges, a 17-year old and Nicholas Little, 18, who gave detectives a videotaped confession to the crime spree that happened in the early morning on June 4.

Officer: "A lot of people don't lock their cars at night, huh?"
Little: "You'd be surprised."
Officer: "Were most of these cars unlocked?"
Little: "Every single one of them."

Dave Bennett is one of several people victimized by Little.

He says he needed something out of his truck that morning and left it unlocked for just 20 minutes, but he also noticed some unfamiliar people in his neighborhood.

"It was light enough for me to see through the car and see both the passenger and the driver in there and they came and still hit my truck and then went on and hit the rest of the neighborhood while it was daylight out," said Bennett.

Bennett's description of that car and the suspects eventually led police to Little and his accomplice as well as thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.

Officer: "Whose idea was it to do all this?"

Little: "I don't know, we got into trouble for it before. Dumb kids. Taking everything that they can."

Little said he and the 17-year old just got off probation. Little planned to keep a stolen Xbox for himself, but could not explain what they planned to do with everything else.

Since the suspects were caught the same day as the crimes, many victims were able to get their property back, but there was a lot of other items that have not been claimed by their rightful owner.
