Defamation lawsuit filed against Casey Anthony's bounty hunter

Orange Co. meter reader Roy Kronk files suit against Leonard Padilla

ORLANDO, Fla. – The California bounty hunter who once helped Casey Anthony bond out of jail could be in a court room because of comments he made on TV about the murder case.

Leonard Padilla, who arranged Anthony's $500,000 bond after her arrest in 2008 in connection with the disappearance of her daughter, Caylee, appeared on multiple TV shows and mentioned Roy Kronk.

Kronk, is the Orange County meter reader who found Caylee Anthony's remains. Kronk is suing Padilla for defamation and filed court papers on Tuesday announcing his lawsuit is ready for trial.

Kronk believes the jury trial will take no more than five days. It's unclear when that trial will be scheduled.

According to the complaint filed in 2011, Kronk says Padilla made a slew of false statements in the media, including that Kronk was involved in hiding the body of Caylee Anthony, that he conspired with law enforcement to find the body and that he was connected with the Anthony family in covering up the crime.

According to the lawsuit, Kronk is seeking damages in excess of $15,000.
